Mary Barnette, MD, FAAP

Dr. Mary Barnette was raised in a military family and lived in Turkey, Mississippi, Alabama, Oklahoma and Abilene before making her home in Nacogdoches. She earned a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Mississippi State University. Dr. Barnette attended medical school on an Air Force scholarship and earned her medical degree from the University of Mississippi. Before serving three years active duty as a general medical officer at Vance Air Force Base in Enid, Oklahoma, Dr. Barnette completed a one-year internship in pediatrics at the University of Mississippi. She completed her pediatric residency at Texas Tech University.

In 2002, Dr. Barnette opened her private practice in Nacogdoches. She expanded her services by joining PineyWoods Pediatrics, P.A. in 2016. 

Dr. Barnette is Board Certified in Pediatrics and a member Texas Medical Association. She is on staff at Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital and Nacogdoches Medical Center. Dr. Barnette attends Holly Springs Baptist Church in Nacogdoches and is a member of the Nacogdoches County Chamber of Commerce.

Dr. Barnette serves on the Nacogdoches County Child Fatality Review Team which conducts in-depth reviews of circumstances of child deaths. She also volunteers as Medical Director for GETCAP Head Start in Nacogdoches.

Dr. Barnette is married with three children.
